On November 6th, 2009, Equinox was asked:
I have noticed this new program on TV called "V" or "Vistitors". It bothers me that this thing about Aliens put in a negative connotation...
EQ: Always.
Guest: ...that maybe the next five years hopefully we may make contact and that's the last thing we need is some fear induced peril.
EQ: Immensely important to note, that when a period of time has a great deal of fear in it, more and more things will come out that are fear-inducing. Fear breeds fear and fear breeds money. It is not the only thing in thy media that is fear-inducing. But what thee need to be looking at instead of that is how much of wondrous media is doing the opposite, is making Entities to ask questions, look for answers. Many novels now are leading the way, many movies. So yes this is an opportunity to create fear and take people's minds off of the real fear which is the helplessness they are feeling. So they can root for the Good Guys against the Bad Guys and the Bad Guys are a nebulous Bad Guy.
Guest: As opposed to a tangible next door neighbor Bad Guy.
EQ: Exactly, or a Government Bad guy.
Guest: Over which they have no control.
EQ: So there have to and always have been Boogie men.
Guest: It can also make them feel more powerless.
EQ: Usually it won't because in the end the Good Guy always wins. Yes if in the end the Good Guy kept losing, then you are right but the Good Guys will win. And the Good Guys will get better, smarter, more good looking, more powerful as the Bad Guys get uglier, stupider, and less powerful.
Guest: And the Good Guys seem to be more complex and Human, which I think is a great trend.
EQ: Yes.
Guest: Should have just made a movie instead of a Series.
EQ: What thee will understand very shortly, that there is a lack of real creativity going on in thy media. That what they do is keep replicating whatever it is that worked.
Guest: I thought "V" came out of the 80's?
EQ: It did.
Guest: Once again replicating "V" that came out of the 80's.
Guest: There are some changes to it.
EQ: Suffice it to say that will only allow the shining stars to shine more brightly, won't it? That media that educates, that helps bring good and joy, will shine out from the trash. So don't worry about the trash, it probably won't last.
