On October 1st, 2004, Equinox gave this meditation to understand
death:
It is important that thee all allow thy bodies to relax. We would
like for thee to begin to breathe. And when we say breathe, we
are talking deeply, not the shallow breaths that thee take in thy
everyday life. But fill thy lungs as completely as thee can, and
empty them as completely. And as thee do this, perceive thy
body’s joy as it take the breath of life and begins to relax and be at
peace. It is wondrous to let thy body just be, to gently enfold
it in peace and relaxation as thy mind goes on a journey with us here.
I would like for thee to perceive thyself in a beauteous forest.
A forest in which the leaves have begun to change, the colors vibrant
red and gold surround thee. There is already a blanket of leaves
upon the ground and the air is rich with the scent of these fallen
leaves. It is cool and crisp inside this forest, and thee can see
the streaks of light that penetrate its depths. And as thee walk
upon the leaves, feel the springiness that they have created.
Breathe in the aromas around thee. Pick up a leaf an look upon it
and just keep it in thy hand as thee walk, listening to the sounds of
thy footsteps in the forest and feeling very, very alive.
Now, you come upon a beauteous stream of very clear water and you sit
upon a rock and look deeply, deeply into this beauteous water. It
is not very deep, but it is very clear and thee can see the rocks at
the bottom and a small rapids as it goes over some rocks. And
thee put thy fingers into this cool, clear water and become aware of
how wondrously cold it is. And thy fingers go to thy mouth, and
thee taste of its refreshing nature and thee are at peace.
And you look upon thy leaf and you notice the richness of the reds and
thee see the veins and it is still subtle, the colors. And as
thee touch the leaf, it still has some leathery feel to it although,
the edges have begun to brown and be crisp, and thee know it has begun
its cycle of death. But look how beautiful it is as it dies for
thee. In its final days it shines the brightest. And thee
take this leaf and place it in the water and watch as it goes down the
stream until thee no longer can see it. But thee have a precise
memory of that leaf in all its beauty in thy mind and thy heart.
And though thee will never see it again, thee know this leaf.
Thee have memories of them all in the trees when they are green in the
spring and full in the summer. And thee can sit below the
branches and feel the coolness that they provide for thee. And
even in their death when they lie upon the planet, they warm her for
the winter, and they protect that which lies beneath and nurture it
with their death so that in the spring, new can be created from the old.
All entities upon Terra have this same journey. They are bright
and new in the spring, and they shine wondrously in the summer and in
the fall, they begin to wane and in the winter, they die, but leave
behind so many wondrous memories, so much good, so much pleasure.
Every entity that thee have ever known and any entity that thee know,
thee leave indelibly changed. And in this change, no entity ever
dies, for a piece of them lives on in thy mind, thy heart and the
newness that is created by them having touched thee. There be no
death, only the illusion of it.
Keep anyone that thee have loved and lost firmly within thy mind and
heart and they live on for ever and ever.
